Vernonia Anthelmintica
An annual herb grows up to 70 cm in height. Leaves: ovoid or lanceolate, acute, serrate, pubescent on both sides. Stem: robust, erect, leafy with velvety branches. leaves: alternate, 5-8 cm long, obovate, with base narrowing into the stalk. Flowers: tubular, 5-lobed, purplish in corymbose head, flower-heads are borne at the end of branches in 10-20 cm clusters. Fruits: achenes, oblong, and cylindric.
Seed: pods are 4-6 cm long, 10 ribbed, oblong. Flower appears during October-January.
