Platanus
PlatanusĀ is aĀ genusĀ consisting of a small number ofĀ treeĀ species native to theĀ NorthernĀ Hemisphere. They are the sole living members of the familyĀ Platanaceae.
All members ofĀ PlatanusĀ are tall, reaching 30ā50Ā m (98ā164Ā ft) in height.
They are often known in English asĀ planesĀ orĀ plane trees.
Plane trees, also called London plane trees, are natural hybrids that developed in the wild in Europe. The plane tree is a member of the sycamore family and bears the scientific name Platanus x acerifolia.
